Anambra State lawmakers passe 2018 budget with increase from N16bn to N17bn

Anambra state House of Assembly on Thursday passed the 2018 appropriation bill sent to it by the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano in November 30,2017.

The appropriation bill was increased from N166.9 to N170, 913, 008, 647 .

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Rita Maduagwu, while passing the bill after it scaled through three   third reading explained that it initial current expenditure was also increased from 63 billion to 64.4billion, while the capital expenditure was raised from 103 billion to 106 billion naira respectively. 

 Maduagwu,  who said the lawmakers would make sure that their over sight functions were fully carried out noted that they were expecting over 90 percent implementation this year as against over 80% recorded on 2017 budget.

"It is practically achievable in view of governor Obiano's burning desire to transform all sectors of the state economy through his purposeful administration and the house will take seriously the issue of over sight responsibility to ensure effectively implementation of the budget " Maduagwu said 

While presenting the recommendations to the house,  the chairman of the finance and appropriation committee,  Hon Obinna Emenaka,  had commended his colleagues for their inputs in making sure the exercise of the committee was a success. 

He said the increment was based on Obiano's desire in getting it right for the people of Anambra State in every sectors of the economy.
