Court counsel friends on good behaviour

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday advised two friends, Mohammed Fatima and Abubakar Zainab to be of good behaviour.
Magistrate Emmanuel Yusuf gave the advice in a two-count charge of alleged intimidation and causing grievous hurt against Zainab.
Yusuf said that friends should try and settle their differences, adding that the “court does not only settle dispute but also give advice to litigants’’.
According to him, friends do fight but what keeps them stronger is when they fight and settle their differences amicably.
He further admonished them to write an undertaking to forgive each other, respect each other and also live in peace and harmony like before.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Fatima had filed a suit against her friend Zainab for alleged intimidation and causing grievous hurt contrary to Sections 377 and 233 of the Kaduna State Penal Code.
Fatima had alleged that sometimes in 2017, the defendant approached and invited her to Maharajah Hotel in Kaduna but she was advised not to go as the place was not suitable for a lady.
“Zainab invited me to the hotel in the night but I was advised not to go and I decided to call her, sequel to that she became furious over that and started insulting me.’’
The complainant further said that on Dec. 22. 2017, the defendant engaged her in a fight and intentionally pushed her into a burning fire where she sustained serious burns on her body.
She added that while being treated, the defendant in the presence of her neighbours threatened to pour hot water on her, and also was about to stab her with a broken bottle, but was stopped by people around. (NAN)
