Gov. Obiano moves to arrest alcohol sellers in the motor park

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command has flagged off sensitization campaign on safety during the festive season with its theme, Right To Life On Highway Is Not Negotiable.

The safety awareness campaign which was flagged-off by Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State  with the Corps Marshal FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi at Onitsha in Chisco Motor witnessed stakeholders and all the service chiefs currently serving in the state.

In his address of welcome, the Corps Marshal of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi said that the corps as usual has commenced high level of intervention strategies to ensure that lives and property of the road users are safe especially during this Christmas celebration.

The FRSC boss maintained that all the 22 critical corridors of the nation’s road network would be effectively managed, in addition to her roadside clinic and emergency ambulances scheme, disclosing that several road camps would be set up where motorists can rest and chat with the corps during their journey to any various destination across the country.

He further disclosed that the corps would initiate and establish the FRSC Traffic Radio which according to him would commence broadcast in the first quarter of 2018, insists that the Corps would adhere to their sacrosanct warning of do not drink and drive or smoke hyper substance while driving; do not carry overloads; be careful when and where to overtake while driving; always put on your seatbelt especially while on highway, among others.

Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi who disclosed that Governor Obiano has repaired their tow truck to address the issue of vehicle obstruction in the state, provision 2 shuttle buses and 3 motorbikes to enhance enforcement, however, congratulated Governor Willie Obiano on the victory in the just concluded governorship election in the state, noting that the synergies enjoyed between the Corps and the Anambra state government would continue.

While addressing the people during the event, the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano said that he would provide raid all motor parks, arrest alcohol seller within the motor park so as to alleviate the issue of drinking and driving witnessed among drivers.

Gov. Obiano also promise to donate 40 ambulances to the corps which would be stationed in the strategic location for quick response during emergency and as well provide 25 alcohol and speed detector equipment across the state, noting that whoever that would violate the traffic laws should not go unpunished.
