Orient Daily Staff wins another journalism award

Patrick Egwu, Enugu state correspondent for Orient Daily Newspaper has added another feather to his journalistic cap winning third position in the 2017 Zimbo Excellence in Media Awards. 

Announcing the development recently on Orient Daily Whatsapp group, Egwu said, “I want to inform you that I just emerged as the third prize winner of the Ameenah- Gurkha Fatima Science and Technology category of 2017 Zimbo Excellence in Media Awards which held recently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.”

He expressed appreciation to God and to the management of Orient Daily “for the favour and support and opportunity to succeed.”

Orient Daily learnt that 226 entries from different African countries were received for the awards and winners were announced during a virtual prize ceremony. 

It was also learnt that the story that won the award was the same story that won Egwu the Haller Prize for Development Journalism in Sub Saharan Africa last year on Kenya titled: “Digital Tech: Improved Access to Education in Nigeria.”
