Governor Obiano, widow Mmegbuanaeze receive certificate of return

The Anambra state governor and candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) on the just concluded state governorship election, Chief Willie Obiano has received certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) owing to his victory at the governorship poll.

May Agbamuche, the INEC National commissioner in charge of INEC's legal services, who represented the commission’s national chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, also presented certificate of return to Mrs Nkoli Mmegbuanaeze, the winner of Idemili north House of Assembly constituency bye-election held same last Saturday to replace her late husband, Francis Mmegbuanaeze.

Agbamuche, while performing the function at the commission’s state headquarters in Awka, said that the electoral umpire was happy over the conduct of political gladiators, their supporters and voters during the election and urged them to sustain the tempo.

Speaking also, the INEC, Anambra state Resident electoral commissioner (REC), Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, posited that the success of every election was a collective one, and adviced people not to allow the outcome of the poll to divide them.

Addressing the gathering comprising APGA stalwarts and opposition, Governor Obiano thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing free, fair and credible election in the state, the security and other relevant authorities.

Obiano, while promising to fulfill his mandate in the next four years, called on those who lost the election to close ranks for a better Anambra.

"I want to assure that APGA Will be a formidable force in the political space in Nigeria from now on. We are going to make sure that Anambra continues to shine,  I'm not going to fail with my deputy and the people of Anambra,  we are going to work harder in making sure that our victory was not in vain," Obiano re-emphasised.
