The Traditional Ruler of Awka-Etiti community, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, HRH Igwe Engr. Michael Ezeudenna (Obi III) has commended the state government for N20m Community-Choose-your-project.

Ezeudenna, in an interview with news8hrs.com at his palace disclosed that the community was building a Youth Empowerment Centre with the grant, adding that the project was near completion.

According to the monarch, the ongoing Awka-etiti Youth Empowerment centre was adjudged best by the State government, and they were willing and ready to obtain another N20m grant for second phase of Community-Choose-Your project as announced by the Anambra state government.

The monarch also informed that 11 indigene of the community currently sponsored by the community for training at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Onitsha would graduate towards the end of September.

Ezeudenna noted that Don Bosco Technical Institute which prepares skilled technicians, encourages private initiative and supplies manpower to the Nigerian society towards industrial development, economic and national self-reliance, would help the trainees to become employer of labour and positively contributes to the technological and industrial development of the country.

He further noted that the community would not relent in sending more of its youths to study in the institute as soon as those currently studying their graduate.

On the cases of impersonation of Awka-Etiti Traditional institution by Prince Chuma Ojukwu, son of late Igwe J.O. Ojukwu, Ezeudenna explained that the police, government and other relevant authorities have been duly notified and were battle ready to treat it as a case of impersonation.

“There is nowhere two traditional rulers will ever exist in a community. Ndi b’anyi na-asi n’adighi enwe eze aboua no otu obodo (Our people use to say that two traditional rulers can never rule a community). Besides, have you ever heard of a monarch abandoning his throne to politics? If he is a king, he should show you his letter of recognition from the government.

“We have notified the government and the police and they will treat it as a case of impersonation. You don’t call yourself a king. It is the community that should call you a king. So, we are suspecting a case of psychic influence” he added.
