Africa, Nigeria inclusive have always been described as a people with rich cultural heritage of which our golden morality makes us stand out among other races of the world, Our moral discipline were clearly depicted from the way we greet, the way we dress, and the way we talk, these trait are synonymous with our young folks. During our younger days our parents and grandparents told us very educative folk tales of which the Main Theme has always to put our Morality in check, take for instance when I was younger when my mother told me that any child who stays out in the night and whistles attracts snakes, which Morally hammers on me to always stay indoors and keep Quiet at late night and This generally signify that everyone must be indoors and the environment noiseless unlike the day time. But in recent past our morality has fled from us, we have now become a people without roots and decorum, the very foundation of our society has been eroded, the institution that are charged to maintain our moral standards from the family, the traditional rulers and government have all failed, No wonder our society is now a place with no direction especially among our youths. The question of how our Moral went bad to the highest peak came to the fore when a nineteen year old girl miss Chisom Ugwu took to the social media to announce to all that she was a porn star and an actor and that it was Nobody's business to query her, the lady is reportedly from Anambra State. Coincidentally the August meeting fora for women to discuss issues facing the family and the society at large is taking place across the country and no one is talking about how our moral standards has nose dived. The August meeting has lost its true essence it has become a politicking ground, money making venture for the church and individuals, (See the attached Video Clips) this is apart from its showmanship avenue for a lot of women as being observed, many women no longer attend the August meeting forum because no single moral ethics and value is inculcated in impacting positively to Both our families and Society with Moral lessons, Our Women are Currently Abused by Most Politicians with the thought and display of money, money and Money which has become its Popular Trademark. Our mothers need to go back to the drawing board and get its acts together if the family which our mothers are the back bone has Played its role well the likes of Chisom Ugwu would not be bold enough to come out and call herself a porn star, she urgently need a rehabilitation to help her. Our traditional institution which our traditional rulers are the custodians cannot be absolved about the nose dive of our morality, Traditional rulers have now become political tools in the hands of politicians by totally neglecting their duties of ensuring that parents under their domain are obligated to effectively play their role to their children to make sure they grow to the norms and moral standards of the community, how appalling that our traditional rulers now fight for their welfare, collecting salaries from government which has made them a conquered and compromised individuals, they fight to be given jeeps and built a palace for, become Rubber Stamps for Political Endorsement, Without building any Moral Base for their community which should be one of their core Responsibility. Our government itself which Every Citizen now see as our biggest Headache, has always been the worst culprit in all these, they have totally failed the nation in all fronts, the Government which is supposed to be the one pushing our Traditional institution to play their role are busy politicking with them, worst still No Single legislation and known policy being enforced or implemented to make sure that our moral standards are not eroded. Time has come when the Government needs to wake up and take its Responsibilities. Lastly, since the sad event of miss Chisom Ugwu, The Nollywood industry through Actors Guild of Nigeria or any of its Reputable body has not Risen in any way to condemn the act, since Chisom claims to be their member by virtue of being an Actor. The Nollywood itself has contributed a lot in eroding our moral values by the recent kind of movies they act, they being Africa prime entertainment outfit is charged with the responsibility of keeping our culture and moral value contrary to the high quest for quick sales and marketing becoming an antagonist to our values, they have not in any way contributed to the society in any Moral values whatsoever. Time has come for us to go back to our roots and bring back our Moral values where we left it. AISHA EDWARD DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR MORAL MENTORSHIP. 08113482317
