Anambra State High Court sitting at Onitsha today, presided over by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Ike Ogu, has sentenced an Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC)district manager Onitsha to 3 months imprisonment without an option of fine.

This order was sequel to a committal proceedings brought against the company for its failure to obey an earlier court order issued by His Lordship, Hon Justice Chudi Nwankwo on the  11th day of May 2016. The court had earlier ordered the convict to reconnect the electricity supply of one Ndubuisi Egotanwa, but out of total disregard and disobedience to the court order, the convict failed and/or neglected to obey the said order. Delivering his ruling today, the learned jurist in his well-considered ruling, immediately issued a warrant of arrest and detention order against the convict. The court however refused an oral application of allocutus made by the counsel for the convict.
