The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Anambra State chapter has accused the state governor, Willie Obiano of flouting the court order that restores them to their duty posts in motor parks, and vowed to vote him out come November 18 governorship poll if he continues meddling with their affairs.

Disclosing this in an interview with news48hrs.com, the State Chairman of NURTW, Chief Austine Udozor, flanked by his executive, recalled that the state High Court sitting at Awka had on October 2016, ruled that they should be allowed to champion the course of motor parks but Obiano never honoured the order.

Udozor added, “We are unhappy that our source of livelihood has been handed over to all manner of persons ranging from some Akure-based lawyers, Traditional rulers and business men, thereby turning the state's transport sector especially the parks into an all-comers affair, despite two subsisting court judgments that ordered them to park out.

“It is very unfair and unnatural to take away the job of a medical doctor and hand it over to carpenter. We are appealing on lawyers who have taken over our jobs to return to courts to argue cases; the traditional rulers involved to leave us and concentrate on their thrones and palace affairs; while the traders/business men should withdraw and move back to their markets, shops and wares.

"Governor Obiano should know that motor parks are our area of specialization and calling. This is why we have written several letters and applications, requesting for a 5-minutes audience with him, through some of his top aides, but none ever yield positive result. We have no option than to resolve to media briefing. If after this, he still fail to listen to us, we would mobilise ourselves to endorse, campaign for and vote in any candidate that can address our needs not minding his or her political party.”
