COOU kicks-off online lectures, administrative activities

*The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, formerly Anambra State University on Tuesday, 16th May, 2017 held the 5th Inaugural Lecture of the institution.*

  *The lecture entitled "Heavy Metals in the Human Environment" was delivered by Prof. Linus Obi Ezenweke, a professor of Inorganic Chemistry.*

   *In his opening remark, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Fidelis Uzochukwu Okafor said inaugural lecture was a time the institution showcased what they were and what they were capable of doing, noting that the management were fully committed in the welfare of staff and students of the university.*

   *Prof. Okafor who was represented by the chairman of the occasion, Prof. Sylvester Mmadu described the inaugural lecturer as a seasoned academic.*

*Okafor recounted so many achievements recorded in the institution especially in the areas of academic excellence, promotion of staff, training , re-training of staff, infrastructural development and upgrading of structural logo of the university in order to enable it compete favourably with its counterparts in the state.* 

 
*The renowned educationist announced that he had ordered that the new administrative activities of COOU would henceforth be made Online, noting that the decision was taken during the meeting of the committee of Deans of faculties, Directors and Coordinators of academic programmes, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, when the tenece group introduced some online packages to the university.*

    *According to Prof. Okafor, the lecture was finally introduced to the University community on Monday- 10th,  Tuesday-11th , and Wednesday-12 April, 2017, at Awka, Igbariam and Uli Campuses respectively.*

  *He said the  administrative activities to be made Online were mainly for accounting sections, noting that E-mail addresses of the staff had been collected.*

  *In his lecture, Prof. Ezenweke urged Nigerians to do away with consumption of steamed bean pudding (Moi Moi) on a foil or aluminum/metal plate, noting that it could lead to cancer and other life threatening ailments.*

   *The university Don advocated for wrapping and eating of Moi Moi in a natural leaves especially plantain leaves, describing it as medicinal and nourishing.*

   *He urged the people to return back to the root and start eating what their forbears ate and as well as consume more of organic things.*


   *The inaugural lecture attracted people from All walks of life, including top government functionaries, academics, Religious, traditional rulers, among others*
