A political pressure group, Anambra North Unity Forum has appealed to politicians across all political parties in the state to allow Anambra North Senatorial Zone to produce the next governor of the state in respect of what they termed zoning arrangement.

According to them, zoning arrangement confers on Anambra north sole responsibility of producing Anambra State governor during the forthcoming state gubernatorial poll even if Anambrarians were no more interested on Governor Willie Obiano’s second tenure ambition.

The National Chairman of the group, Sylvester Oraemesi (Ochudo), who made the appeal at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area while addressing a cross section of local government and state executives of the forum, urged all political parties to filed their candidates from the zone as they were interested on the zoning despite political party the candidates come from.

“Our message is that it is the turn of Anambra North to complete their second tenure and justice demands that we complete our tenure. Gov. Obiano is the first governor we have produced since inception of this state. So, it is necessary that other zone allow us to complete our tenure.

“We are not talking about party or candidates. We are only interested in electing any person of Anambra North extraction. The incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano is from Anambra North, and he is there for one term. If the state feels he has done well, let them allow him to complete his tenure. But if they think otherwise, they should allow us to give them another qualified candidate.

“Since the creation of Anambra State in 1991, Anambra Central and Anambra South have ruled the State for 11 and 7 years respectively while the North is yet to finish one tenure” Oraemesi hinted.

The group earlier paid a courtesy visit on Ben Emeke, a chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) where they demanded for equity, justice and fairness as the state prepares for 2017 governorship polls.

Speaking at the visit, Ben Emeke applauded them for the initiative but cautioned them to trade with care so as to ensure that people from other senatorial zone understands their message as “a good political arrangement for the overall development of Anambra State and not based on parochial interest”.

High point of the visit was the formal inauguration of the LGA executives of the Forum by the former Chairman of Anambra West Local government Council, Ambrose Dibor, who charged the forum to be good Ambassadors of Anambra north.
