The founder, United Progressive Party (UPP), Chekwas Okorie has urged people of South East and South South geo-political zones of the country not to sheer away from the struggle for Biafra, which he said is older than Nigeria.

According to Okorie, Biafra has being in existence since the world was created while Nigeria was born less than 500 years ago.

“I am a Biafran. Nigeria is too young to compare herself to Biafra which is over five hundred years old. It was recently they renamed Bight of Biafra to Bight of Bonny. So, every Igbo and South South man or woman should be proud to be identified as an indigenous people of Biafra. Nobody can deny us that. The struggle for Biafra had been and would continue” he said.

Okorie, who was speaking in an interview after the inauguration and launching of Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF), recently held at Awka, the capital of Anambra State, reiterated the need for convocation of South East Political Summit with a view to preparing ground for emergency of Nigeria presidency of Igbo extraction.

“I have attended South East economic summit and others. I believed that what we need now is a political involving all stakeholders of this geopolitical zone. This would help us to discuss many issues as it concerned us politically, and form a strong voice to advance our course in Nigeria” the APGA and UPP founder concluded.
