Early Morning Coup: APGA Suspends Anambra State Chairman, Lists 11 Gross Misconduct

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), this morning as at 8.30, suspended its Anambra State Chairman, Sir Norbert Obi backing its action with eleven impeachable offences.

The party also announced the Deputy Chairman of the party in Anambra Central, Hon Tony Omeligwe-Elee as substantiave Chairman of APGA in Anambra, even as it referred Norbert Obi to relevant disciplinary committee of APGA in line with Article 22 (3) (a) of the Constitution for determination of his committed offences and immediate action.

Barr Sylvester Ezeokenwa, APGA State Legal Adviser, who read their resolution on behalf of others, enumerated Obi’s offences to include failure to convene statutory meetings of the state working committee and the state Executive Committee contrary to Article 12 of the Party’s Constitution; Open denigration of members of the State Executive Committee; Running the Party without approved budget by the State Executive Committee (SEC) contrary to Article 12 (6) (C) of the Constitution.

Others are unilaterally constituting the Disciplinary Committee and Reconciliation Committee without seeking the approval or ratification of the SEC contrary to Articles 17 (e) and 22 (3) (a) of the constitution; Failure to constitute other statutory standing and ad hoc Committees of the party contrary to Articles 16 and 22 (7) (f) of the constitution; failure to render appropriate accounts of the funds accruable to the party and unilateral expenditure from the party’s account contrary to Article 28 of the Constitution.

Also listed were failure to call for a statutory audit of the party’s accounts contrary to Article 29 of the Constitution; deliberate neglect and denigration of the secretariat of the party contrary to Article 15 of the constitution; deliberate neglect of the State Working Committee in the day to day administration of the party contrary to Article 12 (7) (a) of the constitution; outright hijack of the revenue source accruable to the Youth Wing of the Party thus jeopardizing the Youth Empowerment programme of the party and the State Government; open polarization and factionalisation of the Women Wing of the party and a host of other constitutional breaches too numerous  to mention.

APGA further maintained that in line to its provisions of Article 20 (3) (c), Article 21 (1) (k) and Article 22 (2) (i), it has suspended Obi indefinitely and charged him to handover all party belongings and materials in his possession to the most senior officer of the SWC.

It also dissolved the unconditional Disciplinary and Reconciliation Committees of APGA, frozen its accounts, as well as reaffirms its unflinching loyalty and support to Governor Willie Obiano so as to realise his second tenure ambition.
Among the 17 APGA State Executives, who witnessed and appended their signatories for removal of Norbert Obi were Hon. Chinedu Nkwonta (Pub. Sec.), Hon. Barr Umenwa Kingsley (Ex-Officio 1), Issac Obadiegwu (Org. Sec), Barr Sylvester Ezeokenwa (Legal Adviser), Hon Chuks Igboanua (Welfare Sec), Hon Peter Ozumba (State Youth Leader), Tony Omeligwe Elee (Deputy Chairman), and Barr Tony Ifeanya (State Secretary).
