Anambra Lawmakers Threaten to Sack Road Contractors for...

The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on works has threatened to expose any road contractor who executed shoddy jobs.

Disclosing this in a meeting with road contractors and consultants in Awka, the House of Assembly Works Committee Chairman, Ikechukwu Umeh said that they will soon embark on oversight function of the ongoing road projects in the state so as to ascertain if the contractors were working according to specifications.

Umeh, who noted that the meeting was fixed to discover the challenges facing the contractors and consultants in the execution of their diverse jobs, also maintained that they would issue a stop work order to any contractor not seen on site during their visit.

Contributing, other members of the Committee, Kingsley Iruba, Nnamdi Okafor, and Vivian Okadigbo, thanked the state government for mobilizing contractors back to site.

Responding on behalf of others, a contractor, John Arachie reiterated their readiness to work with the committee to execute the projects to appreciative standard.
