By Okechukwu Onuegbu

The 2015/2016 Industrial Training (IT) Students of Botany Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, serving at Centre for Psychic and Healing Administration (CPHA) were on Friday October 14th, 2016 sent-forth to conquer the herbal world in a grand style.

Speaking at the epoch-making event, the founder/CEO of CHPA, Chief Dr. Mrs. Flora Ilonzo thanked God, who enabled the students to undergo rigorous training in her centre, during the six months IT, even as she charged them to go into the world and spread the good news.

She said "I have taught you every part of plants and their uses, the preservation and conservation of forestry, production line of herbal tea-both liquid and powdered one, the formula and signs of over 375 different plant species in my centre, and their values...Having imbibed the practical aspect of your course of study in the university, I hereby charge you to do mightier things than I ever did."

While commending the Management and Staff of CPHA, a Representative of the 12 students, Mr. Fidel Okechukwu revealed that "We had a very cordial, highly educating, wonderful academic journey and an amazing training experience. We came here to learn about the practical aspects of pytomedicine but we ended up getting more than we bargained. We were exposed to the basic aspects of orthodox medicine under the tutelage of Dr Okeke, a renowned medical practitioner in Anambra State, as well as studied extensively other aspects such as Pharmacognosy, Herbal farming, etc.

"We also had firsthand experience on how Nigerian Traditional Medicine can work hand in hand with Orthodox Medicine to save lives. This event was organised to send us forth to share with others and apply the knowledge we have gathered from here. But to me and my colleagues, we are not leaving CPHA. We are only embarking on a short break. We must thank God Almighty for helping us to commence and conclude the training successfully and for His gift of blessing and humanity through Anyafulugo, who also introduced us to Drug Information Association (DIA). We are commending Mummy and her staff, and we are promising to remain part of CPHA family. We are ever ready to render services anytime you called on us."

On his part, the 33rd Inaugural Lecture of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Raphael Okigbo, a Professor of Mycology and Plant Pathology extolled for the training she bequeathed on his students, assuring that the students would surely excel in the profession once they applied the spirit in the certificate presented to them.

Highlight of the occasion, which attracted the board members of CPHA such as Lady Chinwe Nnedum, Uju Egolum, Emeka Arinze, Ikechukwu Abana, Maxwell Mbah, Dr  C.S Okeke, Mr and Mrs. Akaosa, Joe Nwegwu (Onowu Ebenebe) and Titus Nwoye, featured certificate presentation to the out gone IT student and merriment.
