SALVATION ARMY PLEDGES SYNERGY ON Building Youth SKILLS

The Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano has identified entrepreneurship skills and positive attitude as salient qualities that youths must imbibe to enable them survive present economic hardship in the country. 

The governor who spoke when he received a delegation from the Salvation Army Ministries who paid him a courtesy visit at the governor's Lodge, led by the Territorial Commander, Salvation Army Ministries,  Nigeria,  Col Victor Leslie and his wife,  Col Rosemary who is the President of the Women's Ministry. 

They had come to interact with the Governor on the programmes of the Ministry as well as to intimate him on their upcoming 2016 Sastugrafe Conference which will hold this weekend in the state.

The conference with the theme "Building for Greater Glory", expected to attract students and graduates, as well as other participants from across the country, was centered on job and wealth creation, spiritual development and youths relationships.

Receiving them, Gov Obiano said what his administration had done in response to the present nationwide economic crunch was to initiate skill acquisition programmes in partnership with the private sector, to empower the youths with the required skills for self sustainability.

He described the efforts of the ministry at empowering youths as consistent with that of his administration in reducing maximally, over-dependence on government by youths and assured that the state government will partner them across their various areas. 

The governor commended the choice of Anambra for the Youths programme, noting that it goes to re-enforce the state's position as the safest state in the country. 

The Leader of the delegation, Col Leslie, said the Salvation Army in its bid to ensure all round development of its congregation, was also looking at the socio-economic aspect of the lives of the people while pursuing their spiritual development hence the numerous youths and women empowerment programmes of the Ministry. 

The cleric while commending Gov Obiano for the uncommon leadership strides he has taken in the state, added that it is their vision anywhere they are, to be veritable partners with government in the task of societal development. 

The Territorial Envoy of the Ministries,  Dr Levi Muonanu thanked Governor Obiano for his promise of partnership with them and prayed God to grant him more wisdom to continue to administer the affairs of the state in a godly manner. 

They conferred Gov Obiano with the title of Honorary Salvationist and was decorated by the President of the women's Ministry, Col Rosemary Leslie.
