I was the person who advised FG to Scrap Post-UTME—COOU

By Okechukwu Onuegbu

The reason and the institution behind scrapping of JAMB post-UTME has finally being revealed.

The Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (COOU), Prof Fidelis Okafor, who spoke exclusively with news48hour.com, hinted that the cancellation of the fraudulent examination occurred after his advice to the federal government of Nigeria to that effect.

Okafor, who was reacting to a question on the recent inaugural lecture held by the citadel of learning, disclosed that the university is fast growing, and that the idea to cancel the inhuman examination most Nigeria tertiary institutions management and staff were using to amass wealth to themselves was because last year COOU did not sit for the examination.

Hear him, “We don’t conduct POST-UTME. This is because we believe that computer based examinations conducted by JAMB is most reliable and ought to be upheld. Now a student can write JAMB and get the result within some minutes unlike in the past it usually took days.

“So, of what use is wasting time for illegality? You know that by wasting time the process might be comprised. The post UTME is always floated with irregularity. Some are using it to defraud intending students. What we do here is write your JAMB, and we will give you admission on merit. We conduct only screening.
I commend Jamb and fed ministry of education for adopting our policy. They asked us how we did it and we told them.

“COOU is first in everything. We were the first to graduate students this session.
The inaugural lecture you’re referring to is appropriate because it was meant to showcase to the world our powerful and capable produced Professors who are ready to impact positively on others.”

On the recent renunciation of cultism by some students of the university, Okafor said it was due to their effective anticult powerful network aimed at checkmating cult.
