Speaking to journalist at Awkuzu, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ali Okechukwu, added that the Delta State Police Command apprehended and handed over one of the suspects to the Anambra Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

According to Okechukwu, the most wanted kingpin renowned as Obisma, on interrogation, confessed to series of armed robbery and car snatching within and outside the state.

He further maintained that the operatives were attacked by the gang members during which one of them identified as Chuma Anyichie and unidentified female were arrested with severe bullet injuries but died few minutes later at the scene, even as three vehicles and several ammunitions including AK47 raffle and magazines, 24 rounds of live ammunition, 2 locally made guns, 5 cartridges and charms were recovered from the gang.

The spokesman also noted that the kingpin and one of the operatives who sustained bullet injuries during the operations are receiving treatment in a nearby hospital, while efforts were on to arrest other fleeing gang members.
