Principal Makes Case Imprisonment of Victims of Child’s Labour

By Okechukwu Onuegbu

The Principal, Comprehensive Secondary School, Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr Christian Ezeamaku has reiterated the needs for imprisonment of parents and guardians using their children as hawkers during school hours.

Ezeamaku, who described the practice as a heinous crime punishable under the law, heaped the blame principally on guardians, and noted that the exploitation was capable of marring the future of the victims (children), having been deprived of basic foundation of life (education).

Speaking on the forthcoming 2016 Children Day Celebration, Ezeamaku hinted that children ought to be celebrated at the season due to their worth in the society as future leaders.

This is even as the Principal appealed to the relevance agencies to include inter-schools debate as part of the activities lined up in commemoration of children’s day so as to expose them to the benefit of public expression.

He said his college is preparing two teams for the state and local government levels of the schools match past for the day.
