Wife vows to kill Cleric Husband

Okechukwu Onuegbu
 Awka.

General Overseer, Bible Family Ministry, Onitsha, Anambra state, Dr Alpha Justice Ikpeama, has alleged that his life had been threatened by his estranged wife, Lucy Ikpeama.

Ikpeama, who disclosed this while addressing journalists in his office at Onitsha, alleged that his wife was conniving with her cousin, the Chief Judge of Enugu state, Justice  Innocent Umezuruike to threaten his life, following a family misunderstanding.

In a statement made available to Orient Daily,  entitled “ An appeal and demand for justice on the concerted conspiracy and on-going effort to eliminate my life by my estranged wife, Mrs Lucy Chioma ikpeama(nee Orji), the cleric disclosed that he had been receiving strange phone calls, police harassment, which shows they are bent on eliminating him.

According to him, trouble in his family started about eight years ago when a son he had out of wedlock before his legal marriage returned to him, adding that his marriage with Lucy was blessed with two children, a boy and a girl.

He noted, “Lucy did not take it kindly on seeing my first son whom I earlier informed her about, and became aggressive.

“She raised the issue of who is the heir apparent. I told her that this was no issue, and that my two sons were first from their different mothers”.

He said his wife could not understand, and she took a legal action at Mgbidi Customary court  in Awgwu, Enugu state and without hearing from me , the court within 24 hours dissolved our marriage.

While arguing that that the customary court had no jurisdiction to dissolve his marriage ,being a statutory marriage, Ikpeama said he appealed the judgement at the Customary Court of Appeal and after five years , the court quashed  the ruling, lamenting that nothing has happened till date.

He said he had petitioned severally to the chairman National Judicial Council(NJC), for disciplinary action, yet no action has been taken against the Enugu state chief judge, even as he accused the Chief Judge of meddlesomeness in his matrimonial matter.

He cited a letter dated 9th April , 2015 and signed by Chief justice of Nigeria and Chairman National Judicial, Mahmud Mohammed, which was addressed to the Enugu Chief Judge, thus: I forward herein a petition dated 23rd February , 2015 against by one  Dr Alpha Justice I on the above subject matter. “ The petition speaks for itself. I shall be glad to have your comments within two weeks from the date of your receipt of this letter, please.”

Consequently, Ikpeama has asked, “is the judiciary still the hope of the common man?”, as he appealed to relevant authorities to intervene and save his marriage, stressing that his faith would not allow for divorce, no matter the circumstance.

In his submission, he said, he wants his wife and two children (a boy and girl) back.

He said, “My wife and co have made secret arrangements and sent my children overseas. Today, I can’t see my children; I can’t feel my children.
“They took them away from me when they were 10 and 11 years respectively. They are now 18 and 19years”.
