Southeast Monarchs, Others Hail President Buhari for Excluding Igbos in his kitchen cabinets

As mixed reactions continue to trail the appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari, which did not feature a single Southeasterner, some Igbo monarchs and politicians of Anambra State extraction have hailed the President and urged their people to dry their tears as they were the architect of their fate.

Speaking in separate interviews with our reporter, the stakeholders said that although President Buhari through the appointments, had breached the federal character and constitution he pledged to strictly adhere to when sworn-in as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Arm forces of Nigeria, Igbos must remain calm and support the 100 days plus administration up-to 100% rather than complaining for reaping what they sown at the 2015 Presidential poll.

According to the Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council, Anambra North Senatorial District and Monarch (Okalakwu) Igbariam, HRM Eze Dr. Kelly Nzekwe Igbos did not merit President Buhari’s appointment after rejecting him at the poll.

His words: “Why are they crying over mere appointment? So they want Buhari to appoint them into his cabinet after rejecting him at the poll? It is impossible. They should cry very well. If I am Buhari I will not give them any position. You know when he was contesting, did you voted for him? You did not vote for him. You want him to give you job so that you can enjoy the fruits of other people labour? You can’t reap what you did not sow.  So, let them support his administration, he may likely change his mind and appoint them one day. I support every government in power. And I can’t beg Buhari to appoint Igbos. Our people should stop crying and complaining and rather give the new administration maximum support”.

Similarly, Eze Obidiegwu Onyenso, the Traditional Ruler of ancient Nri Kingdom (the world acclaimed centre of Igbo land), Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, described the controversial appointments as a step in right direction, and urged his people to be wise and submissive to the new administration irrespective of the situations at hand, because according to him, the country remains one entity and nothing shall break her, appointment or no appointment.

But Chief Titus Anigbogu, the Vice Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Anambra South Senatorial Zone, while praising President Buhari on his war against corruption and impunity, advised him to run all inclusive government as Governor Obiano runs in Anambra State, stressing that he is President of all Nigerians, and as result, Igbos will never leave the country sequel to not appointing them into his governance.

However, Hon. Barr Obi Nweke, Chairman of APGA in Anambra East and Chairman of all APGA LGA Chairmen in Anambra State insisted that President Buhari must follow federal character in his appointments as appointing only his kinsmen do not augur well for the country.
