Breaking news: NUJ Anambra State Council gets new chapel






The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council has inaugurated a new chapel called Community News Reporters Chapel (CNRC).

CNRC which currently make it 12 chapels of NUJ in Anambra State is made up of conglomeration of experienced community news oriented journalists cut across both print and broadcast media within the [post_ad]state.

Comrade Henry Nwasike, the State Chairman of NUJ, who administered oath of allegiance to the new members, charged them to maintain the ethos of journalism, stressing that their wealth of experience are needed to unraveling the various happenings at hinterlands especially now the country yearns for a positive change.

Nwasike, who equally advised the journalists to practice the profession without fear or favour, told them to shun all kinds of intimidation and move ahead to report facts and figures for the national development and common good of the union.

Also speaking, the Treasurer, NUJ Anambra State council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu enjoined the CNRC to put news first on their agenda rather than selfish or monetary gains, because according to him, accurate and objective reporting is paramount to advancement of every journalist.

On his part, a veteran journalist from UNIZIK 94.1 FM, Awka, Mr. Uche Osunkwo advised the newest chapel and first of its kind in the history of journalism in the country to work with one voice, noting that sky is their starting point as long as they continue to source and disseminate vital information ongoing in our various societies.

Highlight of the occasion was formal inauguration of the Community News Reporters Chapel which has been in existence for a year with Comrades Simeon Nwogha of Crest Daily as Chairman, Okechukwu Onuegbu of Nigerian Mail who is also the publisher of news48hrs.com as Secretary, Adaora Mougbo of Donac Pilot newspaper as Treasurer, John Anulumadu (Trinitas newspaper) as Vice Chairman, Echezona Okafor of Nigerian Notch newspaper as Financial Secretary.

Other members included Mr. Ejike Anigbata, the Editor of Donac Pilot newspaper, Tobias Ekirika of Our Nation, Ngozi Asonibe of Christian Outlook, Pat Okonkwo of Orient Newsweek, Chukwuebuka Onuabuchi of Trinitas newspaper, among others.
