Crimes Has Drastically Reduced in Anambra State—NSCDC

The Assistant Commandant General (ACG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ben E. Dikuro has said that crimes has drastically reduced in Anambra State since NSCDC officers were mobilised to action along other security apparatus.

According to Dikuro, the mobilisation, which include approval to bear arms as enshrined in the Act establishing NSCDC, donation of security vans, among other enablement have not only empowered them to forestall civil unrest and terrorism in the state, but contributed immensely towards enhancement of the training and performance of private guards companies.

“With the help of the State Government and in corroboration with the military and paramilitary officers we have been able to curb crimes, insecurity, civil unrest and terrorism. We involve in anti smugglings, general security patrol, training, retraining and monitoring of the licensed private guards companies and others to ensure professionalism in their activities and recruitments. Anambra state is now safe”, he said in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday shortly after the command held sent-forth party for him as a Former State Commandant, and other two promoted officers; Commandant Christopher Okoronkwo of Zone G, Benin and Commandant Evaristus Obiyo of Zone H-Benue State.

However, while extolling the Anambra State command of NSCDC for their cooperation prior to his promotion to Abuja, the ACG urged them to remain submissive to the constituted authorities, patient and committed to duties, even as he stressed the needs for prompt recruitment of civil defence officers to man the nooks and crannies of the country so as to adequately securing the lives and properties of the citizenry.

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman, All Licensed Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Chief Maduka Atueyi praised the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for equipping private guards to tackle insecurity in all ramifications.

Atueyi, who pointed out that NSCDC has helped the 21 private security guards operating in the state to be more proactive and renowned throughout the federation, recounted how his armless officers were able to apprehend armed kidnappers recently.
