Over 17 Slaughtered As Fulani Herdsmen Storms Plateau Community

NO fewer than 17 villages in Barakin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were sacked by rampaging gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and killed two in another operation.
A source close to Ngar village in the local government also disclosed that a personnel attached to the Special Task Force was also killed by the gunmen, while four  others sustained injuries.

A community leader in the area,  Mr Ezekiel Mandyau, said over 160 persons had been killed in the past two years, while over 100 people sustained injuries as a result of attacks by gunmen.
According to him,  most of the stories of cattle rustlers reported in the media were carried out by the Fulani mercenaries engaged by the local ones and, in most cases, they stole one another’s cows and turned around to allege that they were stolen by the natives.
In another development, another two persons have been confirmed killed in Kanam local government area of the state by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen between Bululu and Yiplack communities.
Chairman of Kanam Local Government Area, Hon. Ado  Yusuf, who  confirmed the killings, said the two farmers were killed while returning from the farm  by gunmen who had been terrorizing the communities within the local government.
He added the police were on trail of the miscreants who perpetuated  the heinous act and  promised that the council would not relent in its efforts to arrest the pathetic situation.
