The leadership crisis rocking the Kogi House of Assembly may have deepened, as the 11 elected All Progressive Congress (APC) members have insisted that due process must be strictly followed to the letter for the election of the leadership of the House

The spokesman of APC lawmakers, Honourable Abdulmunini Ibrahim, who made this known while addressing Journalists in Lokoja yesterday, stated that the group will explore all avenues to resolve the crisis rocking the nascent 6th State Assembly.
Ibrahim explained that the APC lawmakers will not shift ground until the PDP members reverse the illegality introduced shortly after the inauguration, to elect the leaders of the House.
He pointed out that the group had earlier issued 24 hours  ultimatum to return status quo or the group will elect a parallel speaker, stressing that they will still wait till Monday after which a final the decision will be to resolve the crisis as  the APC will go ahead to elect another speaker for the House.
“We are still consulting, they are talking to us, but what we are saying is that they must follow due process,” he stated.
He added that after due consultation with lawyers, they have been advised to extend time, noting that the APC lawmakers are not threatening anybody but due process must followed.
Meanwhile, the special adviser to the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr. Felix Udebu has described the walk out by the opposition as not tenable.
Udebu stated the action of the APC legislators was premeditated and ii-conceived planned to frustrate the activities of the PDP dominated house.
He decried the rationale behind the act of the minority opposition group to impose leadership on the majority, describing the threat by the APC lawmakers to form a parallel exco as undemocratic and at variance with standard practice.
