Jubilation in Anambra As Chief Judge Grant Bail to 21 Prison Inmates

Not fewer than 21 prison inmates have been granted bail by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi.

Justice Umeadi granted the bail during his visit to Amawbia Prison in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. earlier reported that Justice Umeadi,would free many inmates as soon as he tour all prisons in the state in-line with judicial powers invested on him as the State Chief Judge.

Among the detainees granted bail were those jailed between 2 to 10 years, including the juveniles, unhealthy prisoners, and others.

Also set free were inmates whose case files were not found, as well as those the Judge willingly restored their freedom inline with established facts and figures regarding their cases.

But non was charged and acquitted as the Senior learned man and his predecessors earlier did in the past. 

As a result, they would still face there trials in accordance to offenses committed but no longer in prison custody.

 Speaking to journalists after the 8 hours exercise, Justice Umeadi charged the freed not to sin again.

While asked to comment on the frequent cases of file missing, he noted that justice reformation is ongoing to forestall future occurences or even prosecute those who misplaced those files.

Speaking to under condition of anonymity, a freed inmate was grateful to God for saving him after 7 years in prison, and vowed not to return back to his offence again.

His words: "I will never sin again. I have learnt my lesson. All I gathered here as expriences are numerous. I will never commit crime again till my death..."
