The JTF Spokesman, Lt. Col. Isa Ado, told newsmen in Yenagoa that the four suspected pirates, were both teenagers and adults aged between 17 and 22, were apprehended with arms and ammunition.
He said troops of the JTF deployed to Fontua in Brass Local Government Area made the arrest on May 11 and 12.
"Items recovered from the pirates included one AK 47 rifle with registration number QQ1798, four rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, one G3 rifle loaded with 7.62 mm special ammunition, one G3 rifle and one action gun loaded with cartridges," Ado said.
Ado said that the suspects were responsible for all the attacks and pirates activities along the Mbikiri and Nembe 1 waterways of the state.
He said that the hoodlums took advantage of the difficult terrain in the creeks to unleash attack on their victims.
Ado urged the people to support the JTF in its bid to combat illegal oil bunkering and other crimes in the region.
