Coulebaly said that the Pan-African union was founded in 1920 by patriotic African students who fought against discrimination and colonialism as students studying overseas.
He said the body is still relevant in post-colonial Africa, as the body has been in the forefront of agitation for the fast tracking of development on the continent, like in the other climes.
Responding, the minister, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Professor Chidi Onyia commended the union for the honour adding that it would not have come at a better time than now, when some individuals are trying to rubbish the out-going administration’s concrete achievements.
“It is a good omen for the future of our continent, for a youth group to be so focused in recognizing excellence in public service”.
He said, Nigeria will remain focused by ensuring strict adherence to the time-lines and targets for a seamless privatization exercise, and he called on other African countries to follow Nigeria’s footsteps, to guarantee more access to power for their people.
The All-African Students’ Union is a platform for students’ in tertiary institutions from various countries on the continent.
