Breaking News: Igbo Importers Celebrate Gen. Buhari's Victory, Regret Endorsing Jonathan

Judging from the pass antecedents of the president-elect, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Importers Association of Nigeria, Chief Gilbert Bravo Obi has urged the president-elect to carry all Nigerians along in the discharge of his constitutional functions.

Chief Obi who spoke to in Onitsha, while celebrating the victory of Gen. Buhari said that the victory of the retired General was a victory for democracy, stressing that he was expecting the newly elected leader to tackle corruption vigorously when he eventually assumes office on May 29th this year.

He disclosed that the election of Gen. Buhari was not by accident, but a divine mandate to destroy corruption that is eating deeply the entire fabrics of the country, even as he regretted endorsing outgoing President Jonathan. recalled that the group via AMATA earlier endorsed Jonathan in a meeting held at Awka, the capital of Anambra state.

"I expect Buhari to carry all Nigerians along in the discharge of his duties as a leader. As a man who detests corruption in all its ramifications the country’s president-elect should block all loop-holes that encourage incompetence and corruption.

Chief Obi, an Onitsha based importer, however  advised the incoming president not to stop work on the Second Niger Bridge as being rumoured in some quarters, stressing that the contractor, Julius Berger has already started work on the bridge to save the life span of the current Niger Bridge.
He charged Ndigbo to see the election of Gen Buhari as the will of God and the Nigerian people, emphasing that they should support Gen. Buhari for his resilience and fighting spirit which he said would come to bear on the leadership of the country.
In his view, President – General, South East Market Traders Association (SEMATA), Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo urged the President-elect, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari to be magnanimous in victory. He charged Gen. Buhari to eschew tribalism and work with competent people that would transform the country from its present situation.
Chief Ezenwankwo (Ewepudike) who is also the President – General, Anambra State Markets Traders Association (AMATAS), emphasised on the revamping of the economy which was characterized by wide-scale corruption and also tackle unemployment, unstable power supply and insurgency in some parts of the North.
