How PDP, Others Shun Imo State NUJ's Political debate

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council has organized political debate for senatorial and Governorship candidates in the state.

The event which was conducted under strict accreditation at Concorde Hotel, Owerri, last Friday,  provided the senatorial and governorship hopefuls opportunity to marshal out their policies to the people of Imo State who will choose their leaders come 11th April and 28th March, 2015.

Speaking at the event, the NUJ Chairman, Imo State Council, Sir Innocent Igwe posited that the essence of the debate was to ensure a level playing ground for all candidates, adding that NUJ, being non-partisan will afford the people chance to listen to the leaders and ask questions bothering on the development of the state.

The major Governorship candidates who were present included the incumbent Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha who is seeking for re-election under All Progressives Congress (APC), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho and other governorship candidates of ACPN, CPP, PPN, KOWA and CPP.

Commenting on the debate, Capt. Ihenacho said that the debate was of all the debates, the best organized as it was well coordinated to meet its aim. He called on NUJ to keep it up by being unbiased in their reportage.
The Governor however posited that all the candidates present were qualified to rule Imo State, while extolling the Union on the coherent arrangement.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Emeka Ihedioha, Accord Party, Ken Ojiri, United Progressive Party (UPP), Osmond Ukanacho and Labour Party, Barr. Ngozi Olehi were absent at the debate.
