FG Advise never to Sack Prof. Jega

Against the ongoing calls from different parts of the country for removal of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, Anambra State, Professor Sunday Obikaeze has insisted that the INEC boss must not go till after the March 28 and April 11 general elections.
According to Prof. Obikaeze, any attempt to sack the Chairman of the electoral umpire would frustrate the conduct of the forthcoming general elections on the shifted dates.
The Professor of Political Science, who made this appeal in an interview with newsmen in Awka, the Anambra state capital, added that he was fully convinced that the anomalies which necessitated a shift on the polls had been addressed over 70%.
He therefore told INEC to be unbiased and shun all forms of sentiment in the conduct of the 2015 general elections, by blocking the loopholes capable of obstructing free, fair and transparent polls this period the country is bedeviled with lots of challenges.
While stressing that over 75% of Anambrarians have collected their PVC cards, the COOU Deputy Vice Chancellor, who double as the President General of Awa Development Union in Orumba North Council Area maintained that his community was ready to exercise their franchise on the rescheduled electoral dates; March 28 and April 11.
He further charged the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to expedite action towards sensitising Nigerians to change their orientation and values for better.
