Revert Privatization of PHCN Now, Onitsha Residents Urges FG, laments power outage amidst festivity

Okechukwu Onuegbu,
Residents of Owelle-Ebo Phase Two, Onitsha North Council Area of Anambra State have cried to the officials of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to restore their lights which has left the area into perpetual darkness for almost a month now.
The residents, who claimed that the total blackout crumbled their socio-economic and commercial activities, added that it robbed them the joys associated to Christmas and New Year festivity.
They further pleaded on government to return the ownership of the electricity distribution in the country to the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
Speaking to Orient Daily, Dr. Johnson Anene, one of the occupants of Owele-Ebo Phase 2 , and Coordinator of the Nigerian Institute of Management, attributed the prolonged power outage to privatization of PHCN, because according to him, when government was in-charge, people of the area enjoyed lights to their fullness, especially on yuletide.
He l
amented that he has lost lots of money and joy in the area sequel to darkness which has made war upon their streets, even when other Onitsha residents were enjoying same.
Also speaking, another inhibitant of Owelle-Ebo Phase 2, Mr.  Andrew Ukandu, disclosed that unwilliness of the federal government to reverse the case would be tantamount to not considering the plights of the common man.
While a House Wife, Mrs. Victoria Okeke, who claimed that she has spent so much on gas and petrol to that effect, enjoined the federal government to overhaul the staffers of EEDC and get new ones onboard to revolutionize the agency.
When our reporter visited office of EEDC to response to the issue at stake, the office was locked and none of the phone numbers he got was reachable at the time of filing this report.
