Okechukwu Onuegbu
The Vice chancellor of the Anambra State University (now Dim Chukwuemeka  Odumegwu Ojukwu University), Professor Fidelis Okafor has called on Nigerians to promote the love of the nation by being patriotic citizens.
Professor Okafor,  who spoke at Ukwulu on the State of the nation, postulated that ideals which favour the nation’s unity should be pursued vigorously, even as he disclosed that all hands must be on deck with a view to moving the nation to greater height despite the critical challenges threatening its unity.
The VC also enjoined politicians and all stakeholders to eschew politics of bitterness and bloodshed in the 2015 general elections.
On the State Governor, Chief  Willy Obiano’s impact in governance, Professor Okafor passed a vote of confidence on his administration particularly in the area of security, noting that it was engine block behind the massive influx of investors in the state and hitch free yuletide celebrations.
He further commended the Anambra State government on its giant strides to develop the state owned university, but requested for more increased fund so to enable the institution address critical challenges facing it.
Prof. Okafor, while acknowledging the contributions of the institution’s brilliant tutorial and non-tutorial staff last year, adviced students to remain law abiding citizens.
He however, appealed to public spirited individuals, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists to invest in the university to promote its ideals.
