Southeast Governors vow to Checkmate Insecurity in the Zone

Irked by insecurity in the region, allegedly perpetrated by Boko Haram and bomb discovering in some of the Southeastern states,South East Governors Forum, yesterday said that they have obtained quotation from an international vendor for the supply of security equipment to insure proper security in the region..

The Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, Chief Theodore Orji, who addressed journalists after their meeting at the Enugu Government House said they were rising to the challenges, according to him, the governors in the past at their various meetings had agreed to work together to solve their common security problems.
“The Forum resolved to further increase cooperation among them by sharing ideas on problem-solving solutions used in their various states,” he said.
He also stated that the governors of the zone would organize a stakeholders meeting after the national conference to look into at other matters concerning the region.
He announced that the leadership of the Forum in the zone would henceforth, be rotated amongst the five states for one year in alphabetical order.
Governors Theodore Orji, Martin Elechi together with the deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke attended the meeting while the Enugu State Secretary to Government, Mr Amechi Okolo stood in for Governor Sullivan Chime, who is away on his annual vacation.

However, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state was absent in the meeting as usual!
