Governor Obiano commissions Borehole at his countryhome

In keeping with his administration’s desire to improve water supply and sanitation in the State, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has commissioned a water borehole with four-1000 Overhead GP- Tanks at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of the State.

Commissioning the borehole sunk at the premises of Eri Primary School, Aguleri, Governor Obiano who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Professor Joseph Azike said that the completion and commissioning of the borehole project is a demonstration of the readiness of governor’s commitment to partner with interested investors and philanthropists to improve the lives of Ndi Anambra across the communities. According to the governor,   “this exercise is an expression of my administration’s preparedness to collaborate with well-meaning philanthropists and investors to touch the lives of our people across various sectors beyond the four Pillars of agriculture, trade and commerce, Oil and gas, and industrialization; to the thirteen areas we call enablers like security, roads, health, including the provision of water supplies where we have continued to work.”

Governor Obiano expressed immense appreciated to the gesture by a philanthropist, chief Chief Omenife Adolf Izuegbu who built the borehole at the cost of about N5 million,  in addition to constructing the Onochie road in the community. The governor appealed to other indigenes and Nigerians to emulate the gesture, noting that Chief Izuegbu is not from the area but decided to support the development agenda of the government.

On what motivated him to build the project, Chief Omenife Izuegbu revealed that he was inspired by the quality leadership already on display by Governor Obiano. He said that the project was his contribution to efforts of the present administration to bring governance to the doorsteps of the rural dwellers through the provision of amenities.

Obiano called on the management and pupils of Eri primary school where the project was cited and the neighborhood that would draw water from the taps to use it well, protect and keep it clean. He stressed the need for community to be law abiding in order for peace and secure environment to prevail to enable government crate jobs.

Earlier, the President-General of Aguleri Town Union, Chief Mike Eze described the Governor as an unassuming leader who despite his good track records of achievement and exposure abroad still believes that grassroots people should benefit greatly from government.

He called for support to the administration assuring that his community is not relenting in mobilizing its populace to maintain security and vigilance so that the gains made by the present administration in crime fighting, opening up of access roads and attracting investment to the state among others will not be in vain. The President General thanked Chief Izuegbu for assisting his people in collaboration with the government and committed him and his family to God’s care.

Also speaking, the Head Mistress of the School, Mrs Anuli Nwokedi thanked governor Obiano for providing good leadership by example, and saying that the borehole came at the right time and said that it will serve not only  the needs of the school but  the larger community.

Mrs Nwokedi who said the school had continued to excel in educational pursuit due to emphasis placed on good paper qualification; quality teaching and standard of learning thanked the donor, Izuegbu for the gesture and assured that the school would make good use of the facilities.
