Governor Obiano Poises to affect lives of Anambrarians

Anambra State Government led by Chief Willie Obiano is poised to positively affect lives of her citizenry and all sectors of the state economy indiscriminatory. This was disclosed by the Chairman, Orumba-North Local Government Area, Anambra state, Hon. Okey Enekwe, while pledging to support Physically Challenged Persons and destitute in Anambra state to realize their dreams during a-one day Training Workshop on Promoting Community Accountability through Participatory Budgeting for Persons with disabilities, held recently at Chalk-Vally Hotel, Oko.
Hon. Enekwe, who was represented by a supervisory Councilor in the council, Hon. Afam Ogbaji, explained that the local government will continue to partner with Care for the Physically Challenged and Destitute Foundation (CAPCADF) to effectively reach-out with destitute and disables in the area and possibly assist in realizing their dreams and aspirations throughout the state.
According to him, Governor Willie Obiano runs “an all inclusive or people’s participatory government”, therefore, his policy is geared towards enriching lives of Anambrarians positively without discrimination or victimization, however, he reiterated the needs for people to pay their tax as at when due so as to increase the state internally generated revenue for efficient service delivery.
Earlier speaking, Mrs. Gloria Nwafor, the Executive Director of CAPCADF, explained that the training workshop was part of her organization’s good governance project with financial support of Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), targeted to mobilize communities and duty bearers to improve performance and service delivery to impact disables and destitute in the country, adding that the selected persons trained on budget processes and its trend are required to use the skills for demanding their rights and access to participate in governance.
Expected to elapse on June, Mrs. Nwafor charged the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Anambra state chapter to join force with the trainees in realization of their project set goals such as provision of capacity support, sharing development information, monitoring, evaluation of projects and passing constructive recommendations that will be adopted to ensure a strong budgetary allocation to persons with disabilities in governance system and structures.
Facilitator of the workshop who doubles as a resource person, Mr. Uche Madubuko of JDPC, Onitsha in a lecture, identified “Budget” as most important economic policy document of any nation, government or individuals, and a democratic tool built upon a certain fundamental principles geared towards judicious utilization of funds to realize unlimited wants, and urged government to create platforms for physically challenged persons and destitute to feature actively in budgetary preparation, allocations, sensitization, monitoring and evaluation so as to smoothly address their demands.
