Traders who pirate Carlton products in Nigeria have been warned to desist from that or face prosecution.
The Chief Executive Officer of  Sokker International and country representative of  Oregon, Carlton products in Nigeria and West Africa, Chief Godwin Chukwunenye Ezeemo issued the stern warning to the pirates during the maiden customers forum, held in Onitsha, Anambra state.
Ezeemo, who is the biggest distributor of Carlton chain and accessories in Africa, conducted the representatives of the Carlton producers from United States of America, round the Allied and Carpenter’s tools market in Onitsha on market survey.
The two partners, Simon Pears and Marmix Kuypears were delighted being in Nigeria and expressed their desire to extend part of their factory in Nigeria.
While addressing their numerous customers in Onitsha, the Blount International Sales Manager, Mr. Simon Pears explained that they are in Nigeria to see how Carlton product is faring in the country and some challenges faced by customers while marketing and using the product.
He further explained that Blount European International is the sole company that produces Carlton products which include agricultural tools, forest equipment and accessories such as chain saw, saw chain, Carlton Spochet, rim, chain breaker, chain joiner, Carlton files among other accessories.
Mr. Simon expressed satisfaction at the tremendous improvement and achievement recorded in Africa since their partnership with Ezeemo, who he described as an honest distributor.
“Ezeemo is a man with highest integrity; I have not met any man like Godwin in my life. Since we started this partnership with him, we have seen a lot of changes in marketing the product in West Africa. Working with Sokker International is a privilege for our company. He is our biggest partner in Nigeria and the whole West Africa and we hope to continue the long term relationship” he said.
Some customers, Francis Ezeigwe, Nwaneli John Chinedu, Jonas Ezennakwe and Mrs. Gloria Ezeamaku in their separate speeches commended Carlton products, which they described as the king of the forest equipment in the market but complained of its new packaging and labeling, rusting nature, scarcity and non affordability of the product as well as the activities of the pirates.
Responding, Mr. Simon took time to explain the difference between the fake and genuine Carlton product. On the rusting nature of the new chain, he said that “our company is working hard to improve the quality of the chain. We go to laboratories from time to time. It was in November last year that we identified through market survey that we used the wrong lubricants which attracts dirt in the chain and that is why it rusts. Our company will replace all the old ones supplied and we will equally change the packaging.”
On the fake products, Ezeemo disclosed that “Sok” is inscribed on the new product to differentiate it from fakes. We are evolving new strategy to clean up the market from fake dealers and I want to also assure you that we will force the prices down. The prices went up because of its scarcity” he said.”
On another development, Chief Godwin Ezeemo letter took his business partners to his country home, Umuchu where they inspected some of his facilities including the Orient farms and feedmill, Orient Water Well and Orient Garden which is being managed by Kenechukwu Ifelebe.
The team also paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Umuchu kingdom, Igwe G.O. Ezechukwu.
Igwe Ezechukwu, while welcoming the foreigners in his palace described Ezeemo as a promising young man that is well acquainted with tradition despite his many years abroad and however, encouraged his (Ezeemo) partners to continue working with him.
The monarch solicited for establishment of Carlton factory in Umuchu, stressing that the agrarian community is well secured and has vast land for any investor that may wish to establish part of their factories to the area..
Responding, the Managing Director, Blount International, Mr. Marmix Kuypears assured the monarch that his request will be looked into even as he described his experience in Nigeria as great.
“Since we came to Nigeria four days ago, I am really impressed by what we see. I have seen that Godwin Ezeemo has good distribution order and knows everything that is going on in the market. He has lots of potentials to develop Nigeria. Here in the hinterland (Umuchu), the environment is very good, they have dynamic environment” he snapped.
On a lighter mood, Mr. Marmix while being entertained at Ezeemo’s residence in Umuchu, mistakenly mixed bitter leaf soup with salad
