Tension in Anambra: Uke Community boils over non-burial of a-deceased Traditional Ruler

Anambra state's map
The inability of the family and siblings of the late traditional ruler of Uke community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State to come down to Nigeria for the final burial rites of their late brother, HRH, Igwe G.N.Ezeude who died two and half years ago is giving a lot of worry to indigenes of the small community as it is difficult to appoint or elect a new monarch when the final burial rites (final ofala) is yet to be performed.
HRH, Igwe Ezeude died about three years ago in his palace under a mysterious circumstance. Since the demise of the wealthy traditional ruler the town is yet to come together to organise the last ofala as required by custom as the siblings and children of the late ruler reside abroad.
According to the constitution of Uke a new traditional ruler is expected to emerge after one year of the demise of the last monarch when the last ofala might have been carried out. But today, the indigenes are still waiting for the family to return so that a befitting final burial could be carried out on the late traditional ruler.
On why it has taken two and half years without a traditional ruler, the Vice- President, Uke Development Union (UDU) Hon. Chuks Igboanu regretted the absence of a new traditional ruler for the town. He hinged it on the constitution of the community which prescribed the final ofala for any late traditional ruler before a new one is officially presented to the whole town.
He lamented that the inability of the family of the late Igwe Ezeude to come home and organise the last burial rites for their late brother was stalling development  in the area as the state government finds it difficult to relate with the town in various aspects as nature abhors vacuum.
He, however, advised indigenes of the area to remain patient as a process was already in place on how to settle the rift.
