Journalists task on accurate reportage

Speaker, Delta state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, today, tasked journalists to be professional and objective in their reporting.
Hon. Onwusanya stated this in Asaba, when the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, paid a courtesy visit to his office, even as he stressed the need for journalists, especially those covering the assembly to report accurately, saying that this would help to disseminate the right information to the people.
According to him, this is very important as they represent various constituencies in the assembly.
''When the right information is not passed to the public, the public will be misled,'' he added.
The Speaker also said that accurate reporting would help the lawmakers to live up to their responsibilities in the society.
Hon. Onwusanya also urged journalists to verify their stories before dissemination to the public.
He assured that the house would continue to maintain a cordial relationship with the executive in ensuring that it supports the programmes and policies of the present administration.
Earlier, Commissioner Ogeah noted that the essence of the visit was to felicitate with him on his new appointment and pledged his support to the legislature.
He also solicited the support of assembly to enable the media discharged its role successfully.
