Terrorists must be denied future opportunities for mayhem-army chief.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah has charged troops involved in ongoing counter-terrorist operations in the northeast to ensure that insurgents do not have opportunities to breach security in areas under their watch.
Minimah directed that no ground should be left unprotected and no opportunity should be given to the terrorists to perpetrate atrocities in any part of the states where soldiers are currently carrying out mop-up campaigns.
The Army Chief who gave the directive while addressing soldiers at the Giwa Barracks during his operational tour to check on the deployment and disposition of troops involved in counter-terrorist campaign in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.
In the current update on counter-terrorism campaign, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade said General Minimah commended Nigerian troops for their resilience in the ongoing offensive against the terrorists.
He was also quoted as assuring them that all necessary efforts would be made to ensure that troops did not lack anything considered vital to accelerating the success of the mission.
General Minimah however warned against indiscipline and the misuse of equipment available for the operation at the moment.
The Chief of Army Staff emphasized the need for officers to continue to give required better leadership to the soldiers.
He said: "All the training and experience already imparted in all military personnel were now necessary and required to ensure that the entire effort at curbing the menace of terrorism succeeds as planned.”
Major General Chris Olukolade said the army chief continued the tour of the frontlines in the company of his Air Force counterpart, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu and the service chiefs are conducting comprehensive air surveillance of the entire mission area covering Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in addition to the direct inspection of some key locations.
