Ikeakor bows out of COOUTH, returns to classroom

The immediate past Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Dr Lawrence Ikeakor has announced his intention to return to classroom as he bows out as CMD of COOUTH.

Ikeakor, who handed the baton of leadership to new CMD last Thursday, disclosed that his years in the institution brought it to limelight, adding that “Although the Teaching Hospital was established five years ago to complement the COOU College of medicine found in 2009, it has recorded lots of improvements like acquiring best states of art equipments”.

According to the CMD, “The COOU College of Medicine and Teaching Hospital which belong to this establishment have also produced quality students. We have graduated our first and second badges of medical doctors. We also have specialists in various fields. We also have specialist programmes to help some residence doctors to improve in their professional career”.

Responding to questions on notable hike in the services rendered in the teaching hospital, Ikeakor attributed it to economic recession and epileptic power supply, which according to him has affected other things in the country.

He, however, commended both the previous and current Anambra State administrations for been supportive of the teaching hospital through provisions of government for been supportive of the place.
