A conglomeration of sports enthusiasts in Nnewi under the auspices of Beverly Hills Recreation Sports Club, has urged the DSS to obey the order issued to it by a Lagos High Court led by Justice Idris which directed the body to unconditionally release the chairman of Capital Oil & Gas Industries Ltd., Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

They described the continuous incarceration of Ubah as intimidation and adjudged illegality, arguing that it ought not to have been meted on him considering his goodwill which according to them, was to unite Nigerians beyond ethnic and religious divide.

Beverly Hills Recreation Sports Club made its position known during a peaceful demonstration it recently held at Nnewi while carrying placards of different inscriptions some of which read “Free Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, save thousands of Nigerians”, “DSS, obey court process, release Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah”, “Ifeanyi Ubah deserves justice, let the rule of law prevail.”

According to the group’s Acting President, Mr. George O. Adinnu, who was flanked by Mr. Christian Idoko, the club’s Secretary-General, there was need for DSS to hearken to the directives Lagos High Court issued to it on 25th May, 2017 to set Ubah free.

Adinnu, while describing Ubah as their Premier, added the refusal of the DSS to respect a court order was unconstitutional and picks holes at the foundation of Nigeria legal system.

He urged the citizenry to raise their voices and join efforts to fight against what he termed “the injustice, which, if left unconstrained, will infest the membrane of our justice system and endanger the health of our democratic existence as a nation. We know that some highly placed individuals and agencies have vowed to nail Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah by all means, and warned that nothing should happen to the Capital Oil boss”.
