The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has said that his government will soon provide the initial sum of N200m required to kick-start the State Health Insurance Scheme Bill recently signed into law.

Obiano, who disclosed this while flagging-off a medical mission sponsored by an indigene of the community, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu in Amichi in Nnewi South Council Area, said he signed the Bill into law immediately it was passed by the State House of Assembly.

He added that a special committee has been set up to advise government on how best to implement the scheme, and commended Chief Anyaegbu for building the project, which he said was consistent to his administration's vision for the transformation of the state health sector.

Obiano also appealed to wealthy Ndi Anambra to emulate the philanthropist and utilize their wealth to impact the lives of people as government, according to him, cannot effectively undertake the task of developing society.

In his remarks, the donor, Chief Anyaegbu who noted that the program is his way of giving back to the society that made him, said they decided to involve the State Government this time because of the genuine commitment he has shown towards improving the health of the people
