The Catholic bishop of Awka diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor has charged media practitioners to always propagate the truth aimed at fostering unity in the society.

Ezeokafor gave the charge in a homily during a holy mass to mark 2017 World Communications Day, at St. Patrick's Cathedral Awka.

Speaking on the theme of the 2017 World Communication Day, '"Fear not for I am with you: Communicating Hope and Trust in our time", the prelate said that media practitioners are change agents and therefore should give right information that would promote growth and development of the society.

He also advised them to use their medium to preach salvation, and not to be afraid of anything that might arise in the course of their duty or duties; as, according to him, the job of the media practitioner is hazardous; saying that God would always be there to help his people.

He enjoined them to see their profession as a call for the salvation of mankind and better informed society.

The event featured special thanksgiving by members of the Catholic Association of Media Practitioners (CAMP), Awka diocese, and special prayers for the group by the bishop.

The event was attended by members of the state executive council, politicians, including Senator Chris Ngige, Chief Victor Umeh, among others.
