Former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo's father, High Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo, is dead.

Chief Ekpemupolo, 84-year-old was said to have died in the early hour of Wednesday at Lily Hospital in Warri South local government area.

Until his death, he was the Tunteriwei of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West local government area with traditional headquarters in Oporoza.

Media reports have quoted a close family source, Paul Bebenimibo, as confirming the development.

The 84-year old was said to have died from injuries he sustained during the military operation in his Gbaramutu community recently.

His son, Government, popularly called Tompolo had in July written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the attack on his family's house, claiming that his father was brutalised in the attack.

“We managed to rescue him to Warri and hospitalized him. Sadly, one of his lower limbs was amputated two weeks ago. From the doctor’s report, it will be a thing of miracle if he survives this incident", he had noted in the letter.
