Anambra IPAC in war over Appointment of APGA Chairman to lead a Committee

By Okechukwu Onuegbu

All is not well with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) in Anambra State following the recent constitution of committees to pilot affairs of the umbrella body of all the political parties in the state.

IPAC, which at the end of its meeting at Bestwestern Meloch Hotel in Awka last Tuesday, constituted some committees to champion their course pending when they deemed it fit to organise election said it was a unanimous decision taken for their common goal.

The Committees, news48hour recalls were 7 man Interim Management Committee led by Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Norbert Obi as Chairman, and 7 man Political Summit Committee led by the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Ken Emeakaye.

Emeakaye, who made known the position of IPAC, also disputed the allegation that they collected bribe from the ruling APGA to perfect their plans, noting that the group had never met for a formal meeting due its factionalisation from national to state level.

But speaking in a factional meeting the next day (Wednesday), some of those present at the former meeting including the state Chairman of Peoples for Democratic Change (PDC) Hon Isaac Onwuka, Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Chief Jude Ezeanokwasa and Chief Emmanuel Amaefuna disowned the two installed committees, stressing that caretaker committee is alien to the IPAC code of conduct 2013.

Flanked by Chairmen of 20 other political parties, Hon Onwuka, who claimed to be leader of IPAC added that IPAC Anambra State was demanding for an election and nothing less, because according to him, IPAC national shifted their election to a later date only for some people to mute their ulterior motive and install a caretaker committee which is null, void and of no effect as far as IPAC code of conduct is concerned.
