PDP Gains More Member in Ebonyi State House of Assembly reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has gained another member in Ebonyi State House of Assembly as the House Minority Whip; Hon. Anthony Nwegede yesterday declared for the party.

Nwegede, who was elected on the platform of Labour Party (LP) during the last general election, while announcing his defection to the PDP at the floor of the House, explained that his former party has been in crisis since after the general election which has become intractable and all efforts made to resolve it had overtime proved abortive.

According to him, having seen that the crisis cannot be resolved, it became imperative for him to join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state, which is very strong, united and has bright future than every other political party in the state.

Meanwhile, a Chieftain of PDP, in Anambra State, Sen. Emma Anosike has resigned his membership of the party, citing intractable intra-party crises that have prominently shadowed the state chapter of the party from 1998 till date.

Sen. Anosike Anosike, a founding member of the party, who represented Anambra North senatorial district in the Senate, in a letter to the party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Ali Sheriff, pointed at the failure of the national leadership of the party at ensuring fair-play in the state level as being among the reasons for his decision.

He said that crises had characterised intra-party affairs in the state since 1998 noting that “It is more repulsive to any decent mind or interested spectator to behove the serial clamp-down and destitution of a people’s destiny. The rights to good governance, good life and a protective umbrella of the party structure and citizens seem to have been delegated to the dogs leading to utter repression and extortion.”
