The Candidate of the All P[post_ad] rogressive Grand Alliance, APGA, for Ogbaru Federal Constituency on the 2015 National Assembly election, Rt. Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of an attempt to protect its wrongly pronounced winner at the poll.
Nwaebili, who spoke to newsmen at the premises of the State Judicial High Court, venue of the tribunal, disclosed that INEC denied almost the petitioners access to materials it used in announcing the election result.
According to the APGA flag-bearer, who is currently the Anambra State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, by refusing access to them, INEC was trying to protect her wrongly declared result for the reasons known well to them (INEC).
She however, expressed happiness on the giant strides of the National Election Tribunal to finish-up it proceedings prior to the expected termination date, assuring her fans that she will soon regain her lost mandate.
“Soon, truth would surface. I shall regain my lost mandate because even those that claimed to have won the election are currently contradicting the whole issue…That was how they tried to deny us access to the election result materials. INEC either frustrate petitioners or delay them unnecessarily. When I applied, they did not give me any of the materials. But I don’t blame them because they want to protect the wrongs they have done. ”
But speaking in another interview, the candidate of PDP at the election and member representing Ogbaru federal constituency, Hon. Onyema Chukwuka, says it was untrue that INEC refused to release the election result materials to APGA.
“We were both at the tribunal. APGA did not argue that INEC refused to give them the materials. Whoever says that is a liar. APGA has the materials. ”
