Akabuike, however, advised the media to maintain the ethics of journalism profession through objectivity, investigative and interpretative reporting embedded with facts and figures as that would strengthen their already established relationship.

According to the Commissioner, the freedom of information bill passed and ascended into law by the 7th National Assembly stands to hold office holders accountable for the betterment of the society, but that could only be actualised when the media take it full responsibility.

Earlier speaking, the President of AOP and Publisher of, Mr. Bamidele Ajayi disclosed that the organization came to salute the commissioner’s achievements since the inception of this administration and thought it wise to inform him about their existence and what they aimed to achieve with this noble profession.

The scritp read in part thus;

“Honourable Commissioner Sir, suffice you to note that current statistic of the world information gathering mechanism (WICG) states that over 86 percent of information gathering are gotten via the various online services, while less than 7 percent are unaware and yet to get connected to the online information dissemination tools, the remaining 13 mediate around the conventional style of information dissemination which is gradually collapsing into the online service mechanism.

We are glad to let you know that most of our members are practicing journalists representing different media houses, even as they own virtual services to further spread the news to the wider society as it is now known that the world is becoming a global village.

It is unfortunate that most people have miss-conceived the idea of online Journalism, and thereon associate it to attacks, frivolous outburst and unguarded platform through which disgruntled elements and untrained personals express their ignorant, we are different and highly professional to the core.

Thus, we exist to serve as the police of online services to members and willing members who take pride in writing damaging write-ups against individuals, institutions, government and private organizations with a view to ensuring that garbage in and garbage out of the state is highly regulated.

AOP has members across the country and abroad, who are committed and poised to support our objective which is none tolerant to spreading of rumours or negative news stories about the state and her government, and to beam the light of the nation to the wider-world through objectivity, investigations and constructive criticism where and when necessary.

Hence, we are willing to work with you, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike and the ministry at large, in disseminating accurate and concise information about the giant strides of the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano in health sector to our teeming audience all over the globe.

However, we cannot achieve it alone without the cooperation of your ministry through the office of your Public Relations Officer; in sending us news containing your activities or notification for coverage and advert placement to encourage us to stay afloat on the job”.
