Rich Cultural heritage at its peak as Ekwulobia HOLDS HER MAIDEN DAY CELEBRATION

It was a ground-breaking event near Late IGWE Ezekannagha's palace on December 31,2014, as Umochuba kindred in Agba-Ekwulobia held the maiden edition of her day celebration. This event also doubled as a launch of the influential family's meeting hall - a three-storied large building complex.
The event was kicked off with a hot prayer session led by a son of the soil and bishop of New Life Winners Chapel, Agba Ekwulobia, Bishop Chukwuemeka Ezeike, after which the chairman of the occasion, Chief Paulinus Mbamalu of Vonic Hotel was introduced and he started calling out the events of the program. The Master of Ceremony kept the atmosphere lively with his witty remarks as the event unfolded with cultural music displays from several cultural groups like Okacha Masquerade Group from Awgbu, Ogbangbada Masquerade group from Ezinifite.
Influential men of the society such as Brother Obi Okoli,the managing director of Ekwulobia Urban Mass Transit who played a pivotal role in the success of the day, and came in with a large entourage of Local Government Councillors amongst whom were Matthew Ezeilo, Aloy Uzoekwe, Okoli and Adibe.
Brother Obi Okoli thanked God for making the historical event a success. He observed that Eziagulu village has established their own day and vowed his continued commitment to seeing that Ochuba day continues to hold every 31st day of december.
Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of Umochuba kindred, Nze Dominic Ezenwanne, he explained that the event is to express gratitude to God and to their common forefather, Ochuba, for bringing them to life and to specially recognize Ochuba who was a great hero. He also invoked blessings on all who attended saying that he wishes progress, continuity and brotherly love for the Ochuba Kindred.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion who also happens to be the Director of Vonic Hotels and Suites, Ekwulobia, Chief Paulinus Mbamalu (Obi ada ada) said he likes to identify with great achievements and progress and coupled with the fact that most members of Ochuba family are his friends facilitated his readiness to accept the invitation to chair the occasion when he was asked to. He referred to the kindred as one of the largest and richest families in Ekwulobia and implored other kindreds to borrow a leaf from the family's unity, love and progressive mindedness.
One of Agba pillars and a resounding name in Ekwulobia town, Chief Paddy S. Okafor (a.k.a Paddy Sparta), CEO of Paxtiana International Ltd., an earth moving tyre dealer with branches in Enugu and Port Harcourt expressed his happiness with the event. He said he was proud to be identified with such an epoch-making event and encouraged the Umochuba kindred to embrace continuity. He reiterated that the program was a grand success and worth emulating.
Highlights of the occasion were the ceremonial breaking of kolanut according to the 'Ezi and Ifite' custom and the launching process whereby lots of the attendees donated a lot of money for the completion of the kindred meeting edifice.
Umochuba is one of the several kindreds that make up Agba village in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. It also happens to be the most influential as the families that make up the kindred are very enterprising and wealthy.
